La questione Epic Metal: l’epic metal è un sottogenere con caratteristiche ben precise e se vogliamo anche con una collocazione storica di cui tener conto. Spesso capita di veder catalogate come epic metal band che in realtà non hanno nulla a che spartire col suddetto genere.
L’epic metal nasce e si sviluppa più che compiutamente nei primi anni ’80, a livello sonoro non si distingue quasi dal più classico heavy metal, le tematiche spaziano dalla fantasy all’epica classica.
La questione Children Of Bodom: erroneamente si tende a catalogare i Children Of Bodom come una death metal band o più di rado una thrash metal band. In realtà i Children Of Bodom, pur accorpando alcune influenze thrash nel comparto chitarristico restano una band assimilabile al power metal di stampo scandinavo: doppia cassa spianata, assoli neoclassici e tastiera. Piccola eccezione lo stile vocale, che non rientra a pieno titolo né nello scream né nel growl, risultando più che altro una voce giusto un po’ roca.
La questione Satanismo: capita spesso di imbattersi in discussioni o commenti che mettano in stretta correlazione il metal e il satanismo; per rendere più chiaro quest’aspetto sarebbe consigliabile approfondire per conto proprio le diverse correnti del satanismo stesso, senza timore o pregiudizi infantili.
Passando a ciò che ci preme chiarire con questo punto delle FAQ è bene esporre qualche punto. Il metal, principalmente il black, tra le tante tematiche trattate si occupa sovente anche di satanismo, e come in tutti i campi può succedere di trovare opere più o meno valide / più o meno approfondite, in questo senso le domande sono più che gradite all’interno dell’Angolo. Per concludere, il satanismo è senz’altro un tema importante all’interno del calderone espressivo che coinvolge il metal, ma in realtà non è poi così preponderante.
La questione Hollywood Metal e Altre Fantasmagoriche Invenzioni: tra i tanti generi prodotti negli anni dal metallo spiccano spesso nomi altisonanti, che nella realtà dei fatti sono mero esercizio di fantasia e risultano oltremodo fuorvianti per un neofita e inutili per uno che già ha confidenza col genere che certe band propongono.
